Milrem Robotics unveiled the Type-X Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) in 2020. Designed to support and ultimately replace manned IFVs, this tracked UGV is intended to lower the risk of casualties during combat operations by removing more troops from harm’s way. Capable of being air-dropped, the 12t Type-X has a modular design to enable it to accommodate different weapon stations or to be configured for different roles. Since the platform does not need a crew, it can be smaller and lighter than a comparable manned
platform, making it easier to deploy, cheaper to maintain and harder to detect. Developed to meet the requirements of several NATO militaries, the first prototype of the Type-X was scheduled to begin testing in the autumn of 2020.
