The Aerosonde Mark 4 and 5 come from a long line of capable aircraft. The Aerosonde Mk 4 series has several sub-variants to improve the endurance and handling of the aircraft. The Aerosonde Mk 5 is known as the medium-endurance, low-altitude aircraft. It was announced in 2009 that the Aerosonde Mk 5 made a successful first flight at Yuma Proving Ground in Yuma, Arizona. All test objectives were exceeded or met, thereby validating the aerodynamics capabilities of the aircraft. The platform is also closely associated
with the USN’s small TUAS programme and the USMC’s Tier II UAS programme.
