PACKAGING DESCRIPTION The 40mm Smoke (RP) riﬂe grenade consists of a Red Phosphorus canister assembly, mounted on Mecar’s patented and well-proven bullet trap ﬁtted in the tail assembly of the grenade. It allows the grenade to be ﬁred by any standard military (5.56mm and 7.62mm) riﬂe with a 22mm diameter muzzle. When ﬁred, the canister is initiated at impact and produces white smoke with screening effect in the visible and infrared spectrum. MISSION The Smoke (RP) riﬂe grenade is designed for use with 5.56 and

7.62 caliber assault riﬂes to produce a persistent, opaque, highly intensewhite smoke for spotting or screening effects.
