The M23SB round fires an 18 mm round PVC rubber compound ball. It is intended for use against extremely violent individuals and may be lethal under certain circumstances, especially at close ranges. Because of its design, this round may be 'skip fired' by ricocheting the rubber ball off pavement or walls and this is the recommended mode of usage by the manufacturer. The shell case is transparent in order to allow visual verification of the type of round. By Defense Technologies to provide a less than lethal round
