The Italian Navy’s Vulcano-class Logistic Support Ship (LSS) has been designed and built locally by Fincantieri. The LSS programmes, which include developing and producing two ships and in-service support for ten years, have been managed by OCCAR. The lead ship, Vulcano, will be joined by a second LSS in 2025. Four ships based on the Vulcano design are also to be built for the French Navy as the future Bâtiments Ravitailleurs de Force
ships.
