The Tide Class contract was awarded to Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) in June 2012 for the construction of four replenishment vessels under the Military Afloat Reach and Sustainability (MARS) project to support the UK RN. The ships first entered service with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary in November 2017, with all four commissioned by July 2019. The ships are designed to support the new Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers and will be able to supply fuel, food, fresh water, ammunition and other
supplies.
