The Padma-class patrol vessels are in service with the Bangladeshi Navy (BN). The class currently consists of five vessels built by Khulna Shipyard in collaboration with China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, which entered service in 2013. The second batch of five is under construction at Khulna Shipyard following a contract signed in 2019. The patrol ship’s primary role is for the protection of the EEZ, fishing and oil and gas
fields.
