The Philippine Coast Guard ordered two 94-metre multi-role response vessels in 2020, following on from the earlier and smaller Parola-class MRRVs already in service. The new vessels are being constructed by Mitsubishi Shipbuilding in Japan and will be the largest platforms ever operated by the Philippine Coast Guard. Upon delivery, the MRRVs will significantly extend the PCG's endurance and response capability across the South China Sea and the Philippines' broader maritime
jurisdiction.
