Spanish company Navantia has designed the Alfa 3000 light frigate. The vessel was proposed for the Hellenic Navy’s frigate programme but was unsuccessful. The frigate has been primarily designed EEZ monitoring and surveillance with helicopter operations; merchant shipping control; SAR operations; anti-surface, anti-air, anti-submarine and asymmetric warfare operations; naval gunfire support and warfare and intelligence gathering. It features a helicopter hangar and flight deck for an MH-60R
helicopter.
