The Parola-class Multi-Role Response Vessels (MRRVs) in service with the Philippine Coast Guard were built by Japan Marine United following a $164 million contract placed in April 2015. All ten ships in class were commis-sioned by August 2018. The vessels are based on the Japanese Mihashi- and Raizan-class ships. The MRRVs are deployed in a range of missions, such as rescue, marine environment protection, oil pollution control efforts and enforcement of maritime laws, for instance, illegal fishing and sea
patrol.
