Finland is building four Pohjanmaa-class corvettes under its Squadron 2020 programme to replace seven vessels, the decommissioned minelayer Pohjanmaa, four Rauma-class fast-attack missile craft and two Hämeenlinn a-class minelayers. The Finnish government awarded the contract to Rauma Marine Constructions Oy and Saab for the construction of the four corvettes, which is expected to start in 2022 and be completed by 2028 at a cost estimated at €1.32 billion ($1.46 billion). The four Pohjanmaa-class corvettes will be
the largest vessels ever to serve in the Finnish Navy.
