The Baynunah class consists of six corvettes that were contracted for the UAE Navy under a joint effort between Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding and France’s CMN. The vessel is based on the latter’s BR70 design, and the first of class was commissioned in 2011. The final vessel was received in 2017. They are primarily outfitted for a patrol role and protection of the UAE’s
EEZ.
