Textron Systems Unmanned Systems is developing and maturing a Lightweight Small Arms Technologies (LSAT) family of weapons and ammunition with the US Army that fires polymer-cased telescoped (CT) ammunition. Ten light machine guns were produced and over 120,000 rounds were fired. The project is informing ongoing development work which will feed into the army’s emerging requirement for a Next Generation Squad Automatic Rifle to replace the M249 Squad Automatic
Weapon.
