Knight's Armament Company developed the M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper System in response to a US Army requirement for a 7.62mm precision rifle capable of a higher rate of fire than bolt-action alternatives. KAC secured the competitive contract in September 2005, and the M110 entered operational service in 2008. The M110 is chambered for 7.62x51mm NATO and features a free-floating barrel, a fully adjustable stock, and a suppressor-ready muzzle device, giving designated marksmen an accurate, rapidly deployable
precision fire capability across a wide range of operational environments.
