The SIG716 Patrol is intended to combine the range and ballistic effect of a designated marksman rifle with the characteristics of an assault rifle. It uses a short-stroke pushrod gas system with a four-position gas valve, detachable ambidextrous sling mounts, flip-up front and rear iron sights and ambidextrous magazine release. The SIG716 has a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny flat top receiver and a quad-rail
handguard.
