Caracal unveiled the 5.56mm CAR 816 (Combat Assault Rifle) – its first service rifle designed for ‘high-end’ use in law enforcement and military operations – in early 2013. Based on the AR15/M4 design, the weapon has a ‘new short-stroke piston system’ with three settings. The CAR 816 is available in semi-automatic and select-fire configurations with multiple barrel lengths: 7.5in Personal Defence Weapon, 10.5in Close-Quarters Battle, 14.5in Carbine and 16in Infantry
Rifle.
