The Murene is a two-man underwater propulsion vehicle for combat divers. It is a next-generation subsea light vehicle for combat divers and frogmen, with the ability to transport two fully-equipped personnel. Featuring an ergonomically-optimized and hydrodynamic design, it can be operated in manual or semi-autonomous piloting modes, and is well suited to stealthy approach of maritime targets. The system can be deployed from shore, RHIB or through a NATO standard 21" torpedo tube, and can be equipped with a
forward-looking multibeam sonar for seabed scanning capabilities. It also includes a state-of-the-art INS coupled to a Doppler Velocity Log for high-accuracy underwater navigation, as well as a GPS receiver.
