The 30mm GSh-30K was designed by the KBP Instrument Design Bureau and is manufactured by VA Degtyarev. It is a water-cooled, 2,400mm twin-barrelled, medium-velocity, gas-operated automatic cannon intended for use on helicopters and fixed-wing attack aircraft, in particular the Mi-24P. It is designed for firing at air and ground targets with high-explosive, armour-piercing explosives and armour-piercing tracer shells. A GSh-30 version of the gun is also available with 1,500mm barrels and is mounted on aircraft such
as the Su-25.
