The HOT 3 is the current production variant of the HOT (Haut subsonique Optiquement Téléguidé Tiré d'un Tube) anti-tank guided missile family, developed specifically to defeat targets protected by explosive reactive armour. Tens of thousands of HOT missiles have been produced across all variants, with the system operated by over a dozen countries and employed in multiple conflicts. The HOT 3 retains the tube-launched, optically tracked, wire-guided operating principle of earlier variants while incorporating a
tandem shaped-charge warhead to penetrate ERA before engaging the main armour behind it.
