The S-97 Raider helicopter is based on the five-year, company-funded X2 Technology Demonstrator project. Like the X2, the S-97 Raider will feature twin coaxial, counter-rotating main rotors and a pusher propeller that enables the platform to cruise at 220kt. Integrated technologies include fly-by-wire flight controls, hub drag reduction, active vibration control and an integrated auxiliary propulsion system. Sikorsky announced in October 2010 its intention to design, build and test two prototype S-97s for
evaluation.
