Launched in June 2011, the AW189 is the latest-generation, twin-engine, 8t-class helicopter designed to answer the market demand for a versatile, affordable multirole platform. The helicopter can perform a wide range of missions such as SAR, executive and private transport, medical and rescue services, as well as energy services. In 2019, the Egyptian Armed Forces purchased eight AW189s for general transport purposes. The platform is powered by two General Electric CT7-2E1
engines.
