The KC-390 is a high-wing, twin-turbofan, T-tail design intended to meet the needs of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) for a tanker/transport aircraft. In April 2009, the Brazilian government awarded Embraer a seven-year, $1.46 billion contract covering development, testing, certification and two prototype aircraft. According to the OEM, the KC-390 will have the lowest total life-cycle cost and the highest availability in its class. The KC-390 was renamed the C-390 Millennium during Dubai Air Show 2019. It will be
marketed through the Boeing-Embraer Defense JV.
