The Airbus Defence and Space (formerly EADS CASA) C295 Persuader MPA is based on the standard transport airframe but with six hardpoints for weapons and equipment for maritime patrol, ASW and ASuW missions. The MPA is in service with the Chilean Navy (three aircraft), the Portuguese Air Force (five) and the Royal Air Force of Oman (three). Brazil also operates three of the type in the maritime SAR role. Canada ordered 16 C295 in SAR
configuration.
