The M88A2 HERCULES is the M88 Heavy Equipment Recovery Combat Utility Lift and Evacuation System (HERCULES) is an armoured recovery vehicle originally developed in the 1960s to recover the US Army’s M48 and M60 main battle tanks (MBTs). As US Army MBTs have increased in weight, the M88 has been upgraded to enable it to safely recover heavier vehicles, most recently to the M88A3
standard.
