BAE Systems teamed with Iveco Defence to offer a version of Iveco Defence Vehicle’s Superav for the USMC’s Armored Combat Vehicle Phase 1 Increment 1 (ACV 1.1) requirement. Following trials, this amphibious platform was selected by the USMC in June 2018 to replace its fleet of legacy AAV-7 tracked vehicles. Featuring a blast-resistant hull and Iveco’s H-Drive system, it can transport troops from ship to shore and then continue the fight inland. Although the USMC originally intended to procure another platform to
meet the ACV 1.2 requirement for a ship-to-shore transport, the two requirements were consolidated in early 2019 after the BAE Systems offering demonstrated its ability to deliver the desired capability.
