Russia’s Military Industrial Company (VPK) developed the Strela multirole 4x4 armoured vehicle as a private venture and unveiled the platform in July 2020. Based on commercially available GAZ automotive components and sporting a modular design, the Strela can accommodate up to eight personnel in its troop-carrying variant, or it can be reconfigured to perform other roles. Due to its light weight, it can be carried in a sling by the Mi-8/Mi-17 transport helicopter. Should orders materialise, VPK and its subsidiaries
will have the capacity to produce up to 500 Strelas each year.
