The Expert is an EOD robot designed to be used in confined spaces such as aircraft, buses, trains and ships. It is designed to reconcile two conflicting features: a small mobile base to allow manoeuvring in tight spaces and a 3m-long manipulator that can lift objects from hard-to-reach places. Front caterpillar tracks provide stability when surmounting obstacles and stairs, while stowable lateral stabilisers enable the robot to be fixed securely in places such as between rows of
seats.
