The Squad Mission Support System 6x6 was unveiled in 2006 and is believed to be the largest unmanned ground vehicle deployed with US forces to date. Designed to provide logistics support to light and early-entry infantry units, it has been tested in combat carrying loads ranging from 544 to 1,814 kg across varied terrain. The SMSS operates autonomously to accompany dismounted squads, eliminating the need for dedicated logistics personnel in the immediate combat area and reducing the physical burden on soldiers
during extended operations in austere environments.
