Manufactured by the Naval Research Laboratory, the Hybrid Tiger is an electric UAV. As its name suggests, the platform features a hybrid power generation unit. This combines high-efficiency photovoltaics, gathered from the solar panels located on the Tiger’s wings, with other energy sources such as battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cells, to power the Hybrid Tiger. In addition, onboard algorithms can autonomously locate, navigate to and utilise local sources of energy; such as thermal updrafts. This helps
increase the endurance of the platform.
