The Chung Shyang II was Taiwan’s first domestic UAV to enter service. Developed by the state-run National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology, a prototype of the platform was first unveiled in 2005. It is designed to perform surveillance, reconnaissance, target acquisition, artillery spotting, battle damage assessment and communications relay missions. Deliveries to the Republic of China Army commenced in 2012, with an initial order for 32
systems.
