9 mm Winchester Magnum

Region
United States
Category
Ammunition, Missiles and precision weapons
The 9 mm Winchester Magnum is a rimless, straight-taper brass case, Boxer primed. This cartridge was developed in the USA in 1979 for the Wildey gas-operated automatic pistol, a weapon intended for long-range target shooting. Although it was designed purely as a commercial venture, the 9 mm Winchester Magnum appears to have considerable military potential as a sub-machine gun or carbine cartridge and for this reason it is included here. The current commercial loading is a jacketed ogival 7.45 g bullet, which would
be satisfactory for military purposes. Compatible platforms include wildey automatic pistol; other suitably chambered pistols.
