In late October 2021, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) awarded Kratos Unnamed Systems Division an initial $17.68 million 12-month cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to develop an Off-Board Sensing Station (OBSS) MUM-T drone for the USAF programme with the same name. In December 2021, Kratos unveiled the first rending of its OBSS. In a January 2022 investor brief, Kratos unveiled the Demogorgon, its new name for its OBSS

platform.
