The 8 mm Roth-Steyr is the case is rimless, straight taper, brass and Berdan primed. Introduced into the Austro-Hungarian Army in 1907 together with the Roth-Steyr automatic pistol. Although officially superseded in 1912, it remained in service with the Austrian, Hungarian and Italian armies after 1918 and was used during the Second World War. The standard bullet was a 7.25 g ogival jacketed type. After 1945 the pistols appear to have been disposed of to Yugoslavia and numbers still exist. Ammunition has not been
produced in government arsenals since the 1930s, but commercial manufacture continues. Compatible platforms include roth-Steyr M1907 pistol.
