Armament All 120 mm smoothbore mortars. Development By Soltam, based on a Tampella original for Israeli service. Description The M48 is a conventional streamlined bomb with a steel body and alloy tail unit. There are four widely spaced gas check rings cut around the waist of the bomb. The propelling charge consists of a primary cartridge in the tail and five secondary increments in cloth split rings that fit around the tailboom. The secondaries form a base charge, which is always present, and four additional
