Although the 7.92 mm Mauser round was adopted during 1939-45, and the 7.62 × 39 mm M43 subsequently became the service round, some stocks of 8 mm weapons remained in reserve. They were subsequently disposed of and have occasionally turned up in dissident hands in Africa.</p><h2>Description</h2><p>Rimmed, bottlenecked, Berdan primed, brass case.
