The Mk2 introduces two significant enhancements while maintaining the FN® QCB configuration for optimal reliability, safety, and effectiveness. Importantly, there is no compromise in interchangeability for parts or mountings with earlier FN® M2HB-QCB versions.

Firstly, the FN® M2HB-QCB Mk2 features a factory-fitted effective flash hider or is ready for customers to add one as needed. This flash hider substantially reduces the flash signature, leading to a substantial improvement in both survivability and combat effectiveness.

Secondly, the FN® M2HB-QCB Mk2 comes factory-fitted with, or is prepared for easy integration of, an FN SmartCore®. The cutting-edge FN SmartCore® shot counter enables more efficient and cost-effective preventive maintenance and management.

The FN® M2HB-QCB Mk2 retains all the advantages of the FN® QCB configuration present in previous FN® M2HB-QCB machine guns.

FN Herstal and often referred to as Fabrique Nationale, Factory National, or simply FN, is a leading firearms manufacturer based in Herstal, Belgium, and former vehicle manufacturer. It was the largest exporter of military small arms in Europe as of 2012.
