The Soryu- class (16SS) SSK in service with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force are an improved version of Japan’s Oyashio- class SSKs. Built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, the boats are the world’s largest conventionally powered submarines and are all named after Dragons.
