China's Type 094 Jin-class SSBNs represent the culmination of decades of development and give the People's Liberation Army Navy its first operationally credible sea-based nuclear deterrent. With multiple hulls in service and up to 12 planned, the PLAN has maintained a continuous-at-sea deterrent posture since 2015. Each Jin-class boat carries 12 JL-2 submarine-launched ballistic missiles with a range sufficient to cover strategic targets from patrol areas in the Western Pacific, making the class a central element
