The Special & Diving Operations-Submarine Rescue Ship (SDO-SURS) is a Submarine Rescue Ship set to join the Italian Navy by 2025. In June 2021, the Italian shipyard T. Mariotti was awarded the tender for the construction of a SDO-SURS. The new vessel, which is intended to replace the ageing Anteo, will serve as a rescue ship for damaged submarines and will be capable of fulfilling a wide range of tasks within the spectrum of underwater

activities.
