OPV 80

Category
Marine
The OPV 80 is a base design for operation in high sea-state conditions and was used as the basis for Ireland’s latest Samuel Beckett-class OPVs (see separate entry). The Irish variant has an all-steel hull based on the Mauritian Vigilant patrol vessel launched in 1995 but without the helicopter deck and hangar facilities. In Royal Brunei Navy service, the type is designated Darussalam-class, and the last of the four ordered was commissioned in September 2014. The Australian Arafura class is based on OPV 80
design.
