The PB(X) is a new generation of patrol boats from Metal Shark being built for the USN Expeditionary Combat Command’s Coastal Riverine Forces (CRF). The new 40ft patrol boats are being procured to replace the 100 to 160 existing 25ft and 34ft CRF patrol boats over a 15-year period. The first contract was awarded in 2017, followed by an additional order in 2018. A total of 51 have now been ordered, with full-rate production expected to start in the near

future.
