The Sentinel-class fast response cutter, operated by the USCG, is based on the Damen Stan 4708 design, a version of which is also in service in South Africa. Bollinger Shipyards was contracted in 2008 to build a prototype, and in 2013 it was announced that 30 Sentinels would be built. A follow-on order in May 2016 took that number to 58, while the most recent contract modification in August 2021 takes the number to 64. The first-of-class was commissioned in April
2012.
