The La Confiance-class, also known as the Guyanese Light Patrol Vessel (PLG), in service with the French Navy, was designed by Bureau Mauric and built by the French shipbuilding company Socarenam. These patrol boats were designed for the Guyana base of the French Navy to affirm the country’s sovereignty over the region. An order was placed for an initial two ships in January 2015, followed by an order for a third ship in September 2017. The first ship-in-class was commissioned in April
2017.
