The Brazilian Navy’s Macaé class of OPVs is based on the CMN Vigilante 400 CL54 design. The initial name of the class during the procurement process was NAPA 500, which reflected the ship’s displacement. The first of class was delivered in 2009 as part of an order for five to be built in cooperation with CMN; however, only three have been commissioned, with an order for a further two encountering contractual
difficulties.
