Australia's Arafura-class offshore patrol vessels are being built under Project SEA 1180 Phase 1 by the Australian Maritime Shipbuilding & Export Group to replace the Armidale- and Cape-class patrol boats. The programme is designed to deliver a more capable and enduring platform for constabulary, maritime patrol, and response operations in Australian waters and the surrounding region. The Arafura class will provide the Royal Australian Navy with improved range, habitability, and sensor fit compared to the vessels
they replace, supporting sustained operations across Australia's large maritime jurisdiction.
