The Yangyang class will consist of six minesweepers for the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN). The class has been ordered in two batches of three, with the first entering service in 1999 and the last due to enter service in 2022. The vessels have been built by Kangnam Corporation, based on the preceding Ganggyeong class. The vessels are primarily intended to undertake a minesweeping role but also gather data in ports in the Korean region as well as finding North Korean

missiles.
