The MEKO A-200 is a general-purpose frigate development of the MEKO 200 design in service with multiple nations. Built by Germany’s Blohm+Voss, Howaldtswerke Deutsch Werft and ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, the vessels have been selected by South Africa as its Valour class, as well as Algeria and Egypt. The vessels have been designed for sustained operations across a full spectrum of general missions and tasks, including patrol and interdiction, support of SF operations, SAR and humanitarian operations. The first
vessel of the A-200 design was commissioned in February 2006.
