The Admiral Gorshkov-class frigates for the Russian Navy are being built under the long-running Project 22350 programme. It was approved in 2003 for a class of 15-20 new ASW ships that also have a strong ASuW capability. They would replace the older Sovremenny-class destroyers and Project 1135 Burevestnik-class frigates. It is the largest ship built in Russia since the fall of the Soviet
Union.
