The Type 055 destroyer, also known as the Renhai class, is one of the largest class of ships in China’s PLAN. The vessel has been classed as a cruiser by the USN because of its multi-mission capability and ability to command a task force similar to its own Ticonderoga-class cruisers, albeit still smaller than the Zumwalt-class destroyers.
