The Tuo Chiang class is expected to eventually consist of a total of 12 new corvettes for Taiwan’s Republic of China Navy (ROCN), built under the High-Ef-ficacy Vessel Follow-up Programme. The first contract awarded to Lung Teh in November 2018 was for six improved corvettes. An initial smaller corvette was commissioned as the first-in-class in December 2014, but a further 11 are planned as a second batch. The new multipurpose corvettes are to replace the ROCN’s Jin Jiang-class patrol craft. The first new-type
corvette is expected to be commissioned in July 2021.
